ANDREA MAACK is a luxury fragrance brand founded by Icelandic visual artist Andrea Maack. The brand was born through a series of scented art exhibitions and reflects Maack´s desire to approach fragrance through a visual artist standpoint. All the fragrances in the collection have been developed with a unique artistic approach, using the highest quality raw materials and embody elements of Maack's travels, artistic explorations and her profound relationship with her native Iceland. The brand´s strategy to cater directly the modern fragrance lover, whose penchant for social media and e-commerce are only matched by their desire to engage on and off-line with Maack's immersive scent universe, and particularly through Instagram (@andreamaack). The luxury brand is today distributed in over 22 countries worldwide in respected retailers such as Liberty´s London, 10 CorsoComo Seoul, Lane Crawford HK, Excelsior Milano and Totokaelo NY to name a few and has fast become a cult favourite with both the perfume world and the fashion/art crowd because of it´s unusual background and cross boarder between art and scent.

BRAND IDENTITY
The Andrea Maack perfume vessels, designed by Milan based Architect Maddalena Casadei took inspiration from Andrea Maack´s Nordic roots and her body of artwork. Her inspiration came from sculptural shapes in nature, particularly black Obsidian Volcanic rocks found in the Icelandic highlands, dark in colour and sleek in design; housed in gender-neutral boxes created by graphic designer Tommaso Garner who took Maack’s original paintings and translated them into the black and white exterior design.

THE FRAGRANCES

BIRCH is the scent of a refuge in nature, a family cabin hidden away in the Arctic Tundra where bonfires burn under the midnight sun and tomorrow is a million miles away. A touch of bergamot introduces Birch, calming down the spicy notes, bringing sensuality and softness. SMART was created for an art exhibition, the theme for Smart comes from an empty white gallery space. At first it emits substance and intimacy but as you spend more time and delve deeper the visceral moods unravel, revealing the sensual and the seductive. Smart opens with a luxurious line-up of heady jasmine, luscious vanilla, exotic sandalwood and creamy musk blended carefully with a subtle buckskin leather note that holds the white notes in balance.
